The massive earthquake and related tsunami of December 2004 in Asia claimed more than 125,000 lives and changed the development landscape of the affected countries for years to come.
Within days of the disaster, WaterHealth International began receiving inquiries from concerned parties around the world seeking rapidly installed water-treatment systems for survivors.
WaterHealth, through its implementation partner in Sri Lanka—the Jinasena Group—swiftly developed and constructed systems to rise to this occasion, and soon had deployed enough installed capacity to provide safe drinking water for least 21,500 survivors throughout tsunami-stricken areas of Sri Lanka.
